Education:
I am a 2001 graduate of Ledford High School in Davidson County but Stokes County Schools is home. I graduated from Salem College in 2006 with undergraduate degrees in Special Education and Philosophy. I received my Master of Education degree in Language and Literacy in 2013 at Salem College and my post-master's certificate in School Administration from UNCG in 2017.
Professional Background:
I began my career in education with Stokes County Schools in 2006. From 2006 to 2017, I taught in a separate setting classroom at Walnut Cove Elementary School. I had the pleasure of teaching wonderfully creative 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students for eleven years. In August of 2017 I accepted the assistant principal position at South Stokes High School and I loved being a Saura for three exciting school years! I transitioned to Germanton Elementary School as prinicpal in June of 2020. I am so honored to be a Germanton Mustang!
Hobbies:
My hobbies include spending time with my family, working out and running, swimming, planting flowers and reading. I also love supporting school and community events within Stokes County.
Philosophy of Education:
My philosophy of education is simple. I believe all children, regardless of their ability, are capable of learning and doing great things. All children can learn but all children learn differently. It is the responsibility of educators to discover ways to meet children at their ability level while striving for rigor and greatness.
